My name is Tracy Dennis-Tiwary. I am an emotion scientist and Professor of Psychology at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. I specialize in studying the development of social-emotional competence and well-being across the lifespan, and am a scientific consultant with the Sprout Network/NBC Universal on their Kindness Counts initiative. I have translated two decades of my research on the emotional brain into the development of clinically-validated digital mental health tools, including my stress-reduction app Personal Zen, which has been featured in media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, CBS, CNN, NPR, Huffington Post, Bloomberg Television, and Lifehacker. My work on mindfulness-based stress reduction in at-risk youth is the topic of the documentary film “Changing Minds at Concord High.” I explore ideas about growing up and growing old in the digital age at psychescircuitry.wordpress.com. I co-direct the Hunter College Center for Health Technology and Wellness and the Stress, Anxiety, and Resilience Research Center.
